Hill & Hill is headhunting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a leading property developer in London and the home counties. The project portfolio includes multi‑million‑pound super‑prime high‑end residential projects. The role reports to the Managing Director and Commercial Director and supports site development, cost management, procurement, budgeting, health and safety and technical, engineering and architectural aspects from land acquisition to final completion.
Responsibilities
- Support and mentor junior staff.
- Maximise profitability on contracts.
- Monitor contract costs against budgets.
- Identify potential risks and evaluate control options.
- Prepare estimates.
- Procure sub‑contractors and prepare sub‑contract documents.
- Assess and certify interim and final payments to subcontractors.
- Prepare and agree on main contract variations.
- Assist in preparing dispute resolution documents (adjudications, arbitrations, etc).
- Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Ambitious individual with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach.
- Innovative problem‑solving ability and negotiation skills across all construction levels.
- Strong numeracy and IT skills to meet financial demands of the role.
- Experience as an SQS working with the NEC form of contract.
