We are currently supporting a leading global organisation within the mission-critical data centre sector in the search for a Senior Controls/BMS Manager to join their global function. This is a senior-level appointment responsible for driving commissioning excellence across complex, large-scale infrastructure projects on a global basis.
This role will suit a highly experienced professional with deep technical expertise in control systems (BMS / BAS / EPMS / PLC) and a strong track record of delivering high-performance outcomes in data centre or similarly complex environments. You will act as a global technical authority for controls commissioning, ensuring consistency, standardisation, and predictable delivery across a multi-regional project portfolio. Working within a matrix organisation, you will collaborate closely with engineering, delivery, QA/QC, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure operational readiness of mission-critical facilities at handover.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support global controls commissioning activities across multiple live projects
- Develop and implement standardised commissioning strategies from planning through to handover (L0-L6)
- Act as subject matter expert for BMS / BAS / EPMS / PLC / SCADA systems
- Ensure alignment of design intent with operational performance requirements
- Oversee systems integration across mechanical and electrical plant and equipment
- Drive commissioning planning, scheduling, sequencing, and tag management
- Lead technical validation workshops and system completion planning sessions
- Ensure strict adherence to safety systems including PTW, SSOW, and LOTO
- Manage OFCI / CFCI vendor and contractor interfaces across complex delivery environments
- Develop and review commissioning documentation, test scripts, and procedures
- Oversee loop checks, point-to-point testing, functional testing, and system start-up
- Manage punch lists, defect resolution, and structured close-out processes
- Support QA/QC teams to ensure quality-led commissioning delivery and minimal rework
- Drive data-led decision making using completion and commissioning tracking systems
- Identify and mitigate risks across commissioning execution and system handover
- Provide leadership to commissioning teams and underperforming stakeholders where required
Desired Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Mechatronics or similar)
- 10+ years' experience in commissioning and/or controls engineering in complex infrastructure environments
- Strong background in data centres or mission‑critical facilities highly desirable
- Experience across industrial sectors such as oil & gas, power, pharma, or large‑scale infrastructure advantageous
- Proven experience leading commissioning teams in a matrix or multi‑stakeholder environment
- Strong understanding of project delivery from planning through commissioning and handover
- Project management experience or certification (or equivalent practical experience)
