A well-established MEP contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to deliver a CAT A & CAT B commercial office fit-out in London. The contractor has an excellent reputation for delivering projects across the commercial, residential, and education sectors, with a strong pipeline of work and genuine opportunities for long-term career progression. This role is initially offered on a freelance basis at £350 per day, with a clear opportunity to transition into a permanent position following a successful period on the project.

Role Overview

You will take full responsibility for the mechanical delivery of a £4 million MEP package, managing the project from pre-construction through to completion. The programme consists of 12 weeks of pre-construction, followed by 26 weeks of live site delivery, making this an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys being involved from planning through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the mechanical package from pre-construction to project completion
  • Lead the delivery of a £4 million MEP package on a CAT A & CAT B commercial fit-out
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
  • Oversee procurement, programme management, and technical coordination
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
  • Manage client relationships and attend project meetings
  • Monitor quality, commissioning, and final handover activities
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and project compliance

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the MEP/building services sector
  • Strong background delivering CAT A & CAT B commercial office fit-outs
  • Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to handover
  • Ability to oversee high-value mechanical packages and coordinate multiple stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness, programme management, and client-facing skills
