Lead Shift Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Position: Single-person shift role.
Overtime + Benefits available.
Shift Pattern: 4 On / 4 Off (Days & Nights Rotation) – 12‑hour shifts (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00).
We are currently recruiting for a Lead Shift Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a leading Facilities Management and Engineering Maintenance provider at a modern, multi‑floor commercial laboratory facility in Blackfriars, London.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a lead technical role within a highly specialist and critical environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of building services within a busy commercial laboratory setting, working independently while maintaining high standards of engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across electrical systems and building services.
- Respond to reactive maintenance and emergency breakdowns.
- Fault find, diagnose, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintain lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, and associated building services infrastructure.
- Support statutory compliance, health & safety, and site operational standards.
- Take full ownership of shift operations as the sole engineer on duty.
- Work within a critical commercial laboratory environment with high operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required maintenance documentation.
- Liaise with site stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Candidate Requirements
- Recognised electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Strong experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or critical environments.
- Proven PPM and reactive maintenance background.
- Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across electrical systems.
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of site operations.
- Good understanding of building services engineering.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Previous shift‑based experience within facilities management or building services.
