About the Role
The critical services technician will support the transformation of a landmark tower into a state‑of‑the‑art workplace. The role focuses on technical maintenance in critical client environments, working a continental shift pattern that includes days and nights.
Role Responsibilities
- Qualify and act as an appointed Authorized Person (AP) within 6 months of onboarding.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date log of completed work and outstanding items through the in‑house system.
- Ensure contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
- Participate in the critical services training program.
- Maintain effective communication with the client and management team.
- Collaborate with other technicians to resolve operational problems.
- Cover holidays, training and sickness for other shift team members.
- Track and complete Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
- Log all out‑of‑line situations with incident reports.
- Follow existing procedures for straightforward issues, exercising limited discretion.
- Deliver outputs by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision.
Role Requirements
Essential Skills
- Good technical and fault‑finding skills.
- Minimum City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC).
- Excellent administrative skills.
- Computer literate, highly conversant in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Procedure writing.
Desirable Skills
- Apprenticeship (or equivalent programme in Electrical / Mechanical Installation).
- Report writing.
Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Services operations.
- Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems.
- Knowledge of business‑critical services such as UPS, generators and comms rooms.
- 18th Edition IEE regulations (desirable).
- HV trained (desirable).

- Work under own initiative, with high personal integrity and ownership of issues.
- Organise and manage own workload.
- Effective communication at all seniority levels.
- Understand customer needs and standards.
