proAV are a leading global audio visual integrator, providing AV and event services across multiple client partnerships worldwide. The immediate requirement is for an experienced Senior Commissioner to be a key part of our Egham team, representing proAV. The role will take full responsibility for undertaking a lead role on projects and overseeing the onsite commissioning team members deployed with them. A high level of client, consultant and contractor communication is expected, and the candidate must demonstrate this at all times while managing situations and challenges in a calm, methodical, and relationship‑enhancing manner.

The Senior Commissioner will supervise and develop the commissioning team, oversee team distribution across projects, and collaborate closely with Project Delivery teams and support departments to deliver successful projects. The role involves contributing to documentation development and informing strategic improvements based on continuous analysis of project deliverables, as well as reporting outcomes back to the Commissioning Manager(s). Senior Commissioners are also responsible for the closeout of allocated projects, working in cohesion with project close‑out teams, effectively communicating and developing direction for onsite operations. Collaboration with all project departments is vital from pre‑sales through onsite deployment, with a focus on feeding back deployment information to pre‑sales. Direct dialogue and relationship maintenance with Service and Support teams will assist, educate, and inform a seamless transition to support. The position reflects its experience and seniority in the remuneration and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review the assigned team’s skills and abilities, strengths, and assign tasks that suit those strengths.
  • Work with the Commissioning Manager(s), other senior team members and project teams to deploy project reporting and plans for the Commissioning team.
  • Identify areas of required development and report them to Commissioning Managers while encouraging a proactive approach to self‑development.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and processes as agreed for project close‑out delivery.
  • Lead assigned resources effectively, ensuring projects have suitable skill sets distributed and are completing tasks to expected levels.
  • Respond dynamically to meet project requirements, mitigating risk and potential for escalation.
  • Use escalation channels and speak to Project Managers and team members before escalation.
  • Identify when an escalation to Senior Management is appropriate.
  • Support the Commissioning Engineers on delivering projects, attending sites, and ensuring the correct deployment processes are followed.
  • Identify innovative strategies for project delivery optimisation.
  • Review and validate system schemes regarding AV requirements and architecture.
  • Liaise with project departments, consultants, clients, and contractors to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Assess both the suitability of processes and performance of proAV departments and internal staff, as well as sub‑contractors or third‑party and manufacturer/partner resources – ensuring they meet project deliverables and proAV professional standards.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced understanding and experience in system design, functionality, industry standards, and signal flow, capable of efficiently identifying schematic challenges and providing advice on corrections.
  • Commissioning personnel time and labour management, with the capability to provide accurate estimation of these factors.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of Audio‑Visual processes and standards.
  • Audio‑Visual commissioning process and standards, with major works experience from small huddle rooms to large event spaces, demonstrating configuration of distribution systems and protocols, video processors, audio DSP, broadcast, conferencing, and control systems.
  • Experience working with industry consultants and general contractors to achieve client handover.
  • Network deployment testing and verification of software‑based conferencing systems such as MS Teams & Zoom.
  • Working knowledge of relevant network protocols and standards sufficient to coordinate actions required between proAV resources and third‑party/ client/ manufacturer discussions surrounding AVoIP and Network Deployment.

  • Highly proficient and strong depth of knowledge across numerous AV disciplines and technologies, including design, configuration, deployment, and support.
