The Role

As Building Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre‑construction team, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for general building projects valued up to £2 million. You will be involved from early enquiry stage through to tender submission, working closely with commercial, design, and operational teams to ensure robust pricing and successful bid outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for general building projects up to £2 million
  • Analysing drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
  • Producing Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules
  • Assessing project risks and identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Supporting bid submissions and tender presentations
  • Working collaboratively with project and commercial teams
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of market rates and construction methods

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in estimating within the construction or general building sector
  • Strong understanding of building methods, materials, and sequencing
  • Experience pricing projects up to £2 million in value
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
