We are looking for a Facilities Engineer to join our team based in Leicester. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and mechanical plant and equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical / electrical equipment to SFG20 standards. These will include HVAC systems, UPS Systems, RCD testing, PAT, Lighting, LEV’s and fume cupboards, Boilers and Air Compressors.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities using a CMMS.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory management for critical spares.
  • Responsible for co-ordination of contractors including issue of Permit to Work.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Support black building testing and respond to alarms via the Trend BMS.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Specific Qualifications

  • City & Guilds/NVQ -Electrical Installation / Maintenance or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition IEE.
  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • A demonstrable knowledge of building services engineering.
  • Testing and Inspection certification = desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of BMS, generator, control, lighting systems, and ACOPS L8.
  • IPAF/PASMA Beneficial.
