Structural Engineer
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its growing Leeds team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial and public sectors.
You will be involved in projects from concept through to construction, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians to deliver practical, sustainable and innovative structural solutions.
The role would suit an engineer with UK consultancy experience who is working towards Chartered status or looking to continue developing their technical and professional expertise within a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design structural solutions using steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
- Carry out structural analysis, calculations and technical assessments using industry-standard software.
- Produce design calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Work on projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
- Coordinate designs with architects, civil engineers, MEP consultants and contractors.
- Attend client meetings, design team meetings and site inspections.
- Review drawings and technical information prepared by technicians.
- Ensure designs comply with current UK Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Support the delivery of projects to programme and budget while maintaining high technical standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and technical excellence.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience working within a UK structural engineering consultancy.
- Good knowledge of structural design across a range of construction materials.
- Working knowledge of design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Master Series or similar.
- Understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status (MIStruct E or MICE).
- Experience with refurbishment and existing buildings as well as new-build projects.
- Knowledge of BIM processes and collaborative design environments.
- Experience carrying out structural inspections and preparing reports.
- Familiarity with sustainable and low-carbon design principles.
