A highly respected engineering Consultancy is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to play a key role within its established Leeds Buildings team. This position offers the opportunity to influence the direction of projects, develop client relationships and help shape the future growth of a well-regarded structural engineering team.

Working across sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, education, retail and logistics, you will be involved in the delivery of complex and varied building structures projects from initial concept through to completion. The successful candidate will act as both a technical leader and trusted advisor, providing guidance to project teams whilst maintaining close relationships with clients, architects, contractors and fellow consultants.

You will take ownership of project delivery, ensuring designs are technically robust, commercially successful and delivered in line with programme requirements. This role would suit an experienced Structural Engineer who enjoys the challenge of early-stage problem solving, developing practical design solutions and leading multidisciplinary teams through the design process.

Alongside project responsibilities, you will play an important role in mentoring Engineers and Technicians, helping to foster a collaborative and technically strong team environment. Applicants should possess a minimum of ten years' experience within a UK building structures Consultancy and have a proven track record delivering projects across a range of sectors. Experience working on medium to high-rise developments would be particularly advantageous.

You should be comfortable working across steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures and confident managing both the technical and commercial aspects of project delivery. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with clients and external design teams. Chartered status is desirable, although the Consultancy places significant value on practical experience, leadership capability and technical expertise.
