We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced production environment and is confident working with industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and production equipment. Our client is a growing manufacturer known for their staff retention and great benefits package. The successful Mechanical Fitter will play a key role in maintaining production uptime, carrying out mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement activities across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Install, maintain, and overhaul machinery, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns in a high‑pressure production environment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical schematics.
  • Support machinery upgrades, installations, and improvement projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best engineering practices.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Time‑served apprenticeship or relevant mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime when required.
