An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Engineer (Hard Services) to take ownership of the engineering, maintenance, and statutory compliance operations at a large, high‑profile government site in Stratford. This is a pivotal role where compliance and technical excellence are critical. You will lead a team of engineers and specialist contractors, ensuring all building services operate safely, efficiently, and fully in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for a 12‑storey, Grade A, BREEAM "Excellent" rated office building, completed in 2020, offering over 27,000 sq. m of modern office accommodation. The site features flexible floorplates, a central glazed atrium, high‑performance façade systems, a double‑height reception, and a landscaped roof garden overlooking the Olympic Park. This is a technically advanced, sustainability‑led environment with a strong focus on compliance and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all hard services engineering across electrical, mechanical, and building services systems.
  • Take full responsibility for statutory compliance, ensuring all legal, safety, and regulatory obligations are met at all times.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver a comprehensive PPM programme, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Oversee and coordinate reactive maintenance, responding promptly to technical issues to minimise disruption.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable compliance documentation, including permits, certifications, and statutory records.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, maintenance schedules, and performance data.
  • Attend and contribute to client and stakeholder meetings, providing clear updates on building performance, risk, and compliance status.
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture across the site and engineering team.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
  • Extensive experience within Building Services / Hard FM environments.
  • Strong technical background in an engineering discipline (electrical or mechanical).
  • Demonstrable experience managing statutory compliance within large commercial or public‑sector buildings.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation, safe systems of work, and risk management.
  • Proven experience managing PPM schedules and reactive maintenance workflows.
  • Confident leader with experience managing engineers and external contractors.
