We're working with a forward-thinking engineering company based in Derby to find a Lead Electronics Engineer who's ready to take the reins on technically demanding projects.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading end‑to‑end electronics projects: hardware, firmware, embedded systems, and control.
  • Taking ownership of designs from concept through to delivery and customer integration.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and apprentices, helping shape the next of talent.
  • Interfacing directly with customers to gather requirements and troubleshoot in the real world.
  • Driving technical decisions, risk assessments, and project planning.
  • You’ll be supported by a skilled and collaborative team, but you’ll also have the autonomy to lead, design, and deliver in your own style.

  • Embedded C/C++/Python development (8‑ or 32‑bit targets).
  • Firmware standards (MISRA) and debugging tools (JTAG, SWD).
  • PCB layout (e. g., Ki Cad), SPICE simulation, or high‑speed digital design.
  • Experience with mission‑critical or ruggedised equipment (rail, defence, aerospace).
  • Strong workshop/lab skills; soldering, harness building, machining, etc.
