The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving production machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a hands-on element of mechanical fitting and installation work.
Key duties include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Diagnosing faults and responding to breakdowns efficiently
- Performing mechanical fitting, installation, and modification work on equipment
- Aligning, assembling, and replacing mechanical components
- Minimising downtime and supporting production targets
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Working closely with engineering and production teams
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food safety standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance and/or fitting role within manufacturing (food industry experience is advantageous)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Practical experience with mechanical fitting, installation, and assembly
- Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- A proactive and team-focused approach
- Relevant engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
