An established, design‑led architectural practice is seeking a Town Planner to join its close‑knit team in Tunbridge Wells. This RIBA‑chartered consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality residential and heritage‑led projects, with a focus on traditional architecture, sustainability, and sensitive design within the Kent and Sussex region.

Working across projects including new homes, extensions, listed buildings, and rural developments, the team provides a collaborative, hands‑on environment with real involvement across the full project lifecycle.

The Role

You will support and lead on a range of planning projects, working closely with architects, clients, and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
  • Advising on planning policy, constraints, and site development potential
  • Supporting design teams to ensure proposals align with local and policy requirements
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Producing planning statements, heritage statements, and supporting documentation

About You

  • Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
  • Working towards or recently achieved MRTPI (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a consultancy or architectural practice
  • Good understanding of the UK planning system (ideally within the South East)
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
