Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a large substation project for the next 1 – 2 years in Ipswich, Suffolk. Paying £425 – 450 a day + Outside IR35 + Site/ Home working + Long Term.
We are currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a strong mechanical background to support a major substation project based in Ipswich. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering over 1 – 2 years of work, with a planned start date in July/August 2026.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering substation works, coordinating engineering activities, supporting site teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Project Engineer within the utilities, power, or energy sector
- Strong mechanical engineering background
- Previous experience working on substation projects is essential
- Ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site activities
- Strong understanding of HSE and quality standards
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of substation installation and upgrade works
- Review engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Liaise with clients, site teams, and subcontractors
- Ensure works are completed in line with programme and specifications
- Assist with planning, reporting, and project coordination
- Maintain high safety and quality standards throughout delivery
