The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in a challenging and rewarding role within the power industry. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance of all LV and HV equipment on site, including generators, transformers, switchgear, AC/DC motors, excitation systems, electrical protection, SF6 filled switchgear and other ancillary systems.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are met by providing direct supervision of work activities and contract staff.
- Develop, communicate, and implement complex and multiple task plans, including resource management and scheduling.
- Manage electrical maintenance development, budgets within Maximo CMMS, including work order close‑out, raising requisitions, updating work instructions, and receipting purchase orders promptly.
- Specify and manage support contracts, monitor performance and develop action plans.
- Undertake routine and non‑routine maintenance activities in accordance with regulations, procedures and operational requirements to ensure the plant operates safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Carry out first‑line maintenance activities to respond to emergency/unscheduled breakdowns of plant.
- Investigate complex technical issues relating to critical equipment; identify, diagnose, report and remediate defects.
- Participate in reliability studies, RCAs, HAZOPs for plant areas.
- Produce maintenance work packs including reviews of risk assessments and method statements.
- Undertake site safety rule authorisations from competent person, nominated supervisor to appointed person.
- Prepare LV and HV electrical work content for outage periods and drive resources to deliver outage expectations safely, on time and in budget.
- Coach and give technical guidance to discipline technicians, author technical documentation, identify gaps and assist EC&I Team Lead in developing training plans.
- Provide support to operations team and ensure defects and status along with maintenance activities are effectively communicated to the shift teams.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Apprentice trained with a HNC / HND in a relevant Electrical Engineering discipline or degree (or higher) in an Engineering Discipline.
- Proven experience in planning, scoping and delivering LV and HV electrical works.
- Previous experience of being trained and authorised in safety rules & HV electrical authorisations.
- Minimum of 10 years experience within a related discipline.
Desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- COMPEX and 18th Edition (BS-7671) trained.
- Experience from the power sector is although not essential.
