We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager with excellent knowledge of Environmental Hazardous Waste. You will be based in Ilkeston and required to travel to sites in Cardiff and Stoke-on-Trent as needed. A company van will be provided.
Job Description
- Lead and manage all maintenance activities across company sites, ensuring equipment, infrastructure, and systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Act as the key interface between the operations and projects functions for installing, decommissioning, or upgrading plant and equipment.
- Plan, organise, and oversee preventive and proactive maintenance, manage the maintenance teams, and ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and company standards.
- Support the Operations Department, covering duties as necessary during colleagues’ absences and periods of additional pressure.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate).
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (process, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering).
- Lean or Six Sigma qualification (e.g., Black Belt).
Experience and Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in maintenance management, including line management.
- Strong technical background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
- Project management and/or shutdown management experience.
- Clean full driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of heavy machinery, including conveyors, shredders, mixers, tanks, stirrers, pumps, pipework, and mobile plant.
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately, monitor progress and performance, and provide constructive feedback.
- Clear and consistent communication skills.
- Proficiency in using a CMMS to track work orders, asset history, and maintenance records.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and Elecosoft ShireCMMS.
Working Pattern
The standard working week is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (8–4 or 9–5), with flexibility if the job demands it.
