This is a Mon‑Fri role, based fully on site, and we can offer some flexibility on start and finish times. However, of course, as is the nature you may be required at times to work outside of these hours.
What we’re looking for:
- Degree or Diploma level qualification (or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Previous experience as an Engineering leader in a comparable environment
- Strong and demonstrable experience in managing the maintenance of critical assets in a heavy industrial environment
- Leadership skills to inspire and enable the team to be developed to consistently improve performance; a background in change management would be ideal
- Experience of managing budgets and CAPEX
- Experience of identifying, planning and leading continuous improvement projects (WCM experience would be advantageous)
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification
- Project management certification such as Prince2 Foundation would be beneficial
What you’ll be doing:
- Define and implement the engineering strategy for the site
- Own the proactive maintenance schedule, plan resources and work with the production department on effective production and maintenance planning
- Monitor reliability and UPDT
- Record and manage team performance and ensure targets are achieved on a daily and weekly basis
- Manage both embedded and ad‑hoc on‑site contractors
- Develop a 'continuous improvement' culture within the team, through team involvement and participation in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects
- Create proposals for OPEX and CAPEX projects including full costing, comparative quoting, ROI and timelines
- Own HR processes for your team, including appraisals, grievances, reviews etc
- Ensure a customer focused approach; ensure all team members and associated contractors understand who their internal and external customers are and how they can best serve them
- Act as a H&S ambassador, ensuring we operate in a safe and efficient way. Challenge unsafe behaviours
Benefits:
- Flexible start and finish times, full on‑site location at Ilkeston, and an inclusive workplace environment.
- We are an inclusive employer. Saint‑Gobain welcomes applicants of all backgrounds, promoting diversity and inclusion across the business.
