Engineering Manager

What you'll be doing

In this busy and exciting role you will lead the engineering function on site, driving asset reliability, performance and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with safety, quality and operational standards.

  • Champion SHE compliance and support delivery of safety standards across engineering and the wider site
  • Lead the development and delivery of asset management strategies to meet business goals
  • Analyse asset performance data to identify risks, failures and improvement opportunities
  • Drive preventative and reactive maintenance strategies to optimise equipment reliability
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets, cost plans and expenditure forecasts
  • Implement robust root cause analysis and continuous improvement programmes
  • Manage supplier performance, contractor control and engineering service delivery
  • Ensure contingency and impact plans are in place for asset or utility failures
  • Lead engineering reporting, performance reviews and compliance with audits and standards
  • Manage, coach and develop engineering teams, supporting all day‑to‑day people activities

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in an engineering leadership role within FMCG or a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of asset management, maintenance strategies and engineering best practice
  • Demonstrated experience of managing budgets, cost control and financial planning
  • Solid understanding of SHE legislation, compliance and food safety standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to analyse technical data and drive performance improvements
  • Experience of continuous improvement methodologies and problem‑solving techniques
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems and engineering planning tools
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above or equivalent apprenticeship)
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to influence and drive business decisions
