Bennett & Game Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a multi-disciplinary transport planning and infrastructure consultancy, who are looking to expand their Birmingham, Fleet or Gateshead offices with the addition of a Highway Design Engineer or Senior Highway Design Engineer. Our client operates as a \'one-stop\' solution for development transport planning, with established offices in Gateshead, Fleet, and Birmingham, providing services to both public and private sector clients, including nationally recognised commercial developers. They deliver successful outcomes on projects throughout the UK, offering expertise across S278/38 highways design, transport planning, drainage, and environmental engineering.

Position Overview

  • Deliver highway designs within agreed programmes and budgets
  • Manage project resources to ensure effective team utilisation
  • Support senior management with multi-office and multidisciplinary projects
  • Ensure compliance with design standards from relevant authorities and statutory bodies
  • Undertake, check, and authorise design information, drawings, and reports
  • Produce designs in accordance with MCHW, DMRB, and local design guidance
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and sound technical judgement
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and CDM regulations, with a proactive approach to risk management

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience working on Section 278 and Section 38 highway design projects
  • Strong technical skills and experience across a range of highway design environments
  • Project management experience delivering schemes on time and within budget
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers/design staff
  • Robust working knowledge of DMRB and relevant highway technical documents
  • Experience producing and managing contract documentation for highway projects
  • Proficiency in Civils 3D and Causeway Flow / PDS for highway and drainage design
  • Strong communication and client liaison skills
