An established and highly respected Civil Engineering & Building Contractor with projects nationwide is looking to appoint an experienced Materials & Plant Buyer to join its growing head office team based in East Yorkshire. The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting nationwide delivery teams by providing an efficient materials and plant procurement service across multiple live construction projects. You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and external partners to ensure materials are sourced competitively, delivered on time, and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement of construction materials, plant, and associated services across multiple projects.
  • Producing price comparison spreadsheets to ensure best value procurement.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Monitoring market trends, product developments, and supply chain opportunities.
  • Supporting project teams with commercial and product awareness.
  • Managing delivery schedules and resolving any discrepancies efficiently.
  • Ensuring procurement processes remain professional, compliant, and auditable.
  • Obtaining relevant health & safety and material documentation for project handover files.
  • Identifying and onboarding new suppliers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Construction or Civil Engineering buying/procurement role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and civil engineering products.
  • High level of organisation with the ability to manage multiple live projects.
