Our growing engineering clients based close to Havant have an exciting opportunity for a Design & Compliance Engineer to join their growing team. The Design & Compliance Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and certification of the company’s product portfolio. This position combines hands‑on product design engineering with regulatory compliance integration, ensuring products are technically robust, manufacturable, and fully certified to relevant UK, European, and international control standards. The role is design‑led and technically focused, supporting products from early concept through detailed design, testing, certification, and ongoing lifecycle management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop new product concepts and engineered solutions aligned with performance and market requirements.
- Produce detailed 3D models and assemblies using CAD software.
- Generate accurate manufacturing drawings, including tolerances, materials, and fabrication details.
- Conduct design reviews and iterate concepts based on performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Support prototype development and hands‑on evaluation.
- Contribute to value engineering and continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Research new materials, mechanisms, and system improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
- Support feasibility studies and concept validation testing.
- Develop technical solutions that balance innovation, compliance, and manufacturing practicality.
- Interpret and apply relevant British, European standards relevant to the business.
- Embed compliance requirements into product designs from early development stages.
- Plan and coordinate internal validation and third‑party testing.
- Liaise with accredited test laboratories regarding technical submissions and test setups.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from concept through production release.
- Ensure compliance and testing milestones are integrated into development timelines.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in product design and development within an engineered product environment.
- Strong 3D CAD modelling capability (assemblies, mechanisms, and detailing).
- Experience managing projects.
- Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) principles.
Working hours: 8am – 4:30pm – Monday – Thursday, 8am – 2pm – Friday
