The main purpose of this role will be the assembly of UHV Manipulation & sample handling sub-assemblies including pre-test data recording and QC evaluation working.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling mechanical and electrical components to build complex systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out specialist UHV compatible instrument wiring & electrical testing.
  • Maintain ‘clean’ process standards with all component parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Support transition of new hardware from NPI through to routine production including writing any required manufacturing information documents & guides.
  • Maintain and update existing manufacturing instructions.
  • Support the maintenance of departmental records, particularly test data, quality control information and serial numbering of instruments to provide navigable history of future service and support.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree/HND/HNC (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, QBE) or time-served apprenticeship candidates can be considered.
  • Mechanical engineering Level 3.
  • Previous experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment or clean room.
