Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking for your next challenging contract assignment? We are working with a highly innovative engineering and manufacturing business that designs and builds specialist process equipment supplied to customers worldwide. Due to increased project demand, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of multiple high-value engineering projects.
Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex automated machinery and industrial process systems, taking ownership of electrical design activities from concept through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software.
- Design electrical systems for automated machinery and process equipment.
- Specify electrical components including motors, relays, sensors, contactors, safety devices, and power distribution equipment.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), cable schedules, terminal plans, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical and machinery safety standards.
- Support workshop build activities and provide technical guidance during panel manufacture.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning activities.
- Work closely with mechanical, controls, and manufacturing engineers to deliver project milestones.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement practical engineering solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within industrial machinery, automation, manufacturing, or process industries.
- Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems and industrial electrical installations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent design packages.
- Experience producing electrical design documentation for manufacture.
- Good knowledge of electrical standards, machine safety, and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience supporting commissioning, FAT, or site activities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple project deliverables.
Desirable Experience
- PLC, automation, or control systems exposure.
- ATEX or hazardous area experience.
- Special purpose machinery or bespoke equipment design.
- Experience working within highly regulated engineering environments.
