We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician with experience in invasive weed identification and effective eradication across hard and soft landscape areas. Based near Bromley, Kent, the company is offering the Grounds Maintenance Technician post on a full time, permanent basis (40 hours per week - Monday to Friday), and you will be working across a range of sites across Greater London.

The Ground Maintenance Technician role has the following key responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys to identify invasive weeds and recommend appropriate control methods (chemical and non-chemical)
  • Carry out herbicide application using hand-held equipment in line with label instructions and site requirements
  • Undertake general grounds maintenance / clearance tasks, including strimming, and other seasonal works
  • Work safely at all times and follow COSHH and relevant safe systems of work
  • Accurately complete application records, site sheets and any required reporting
  • Provide a professional, customer-focused service and represent the company positively on site

Essential requirements for this Ground Maintenance Technician role include:

  • Applicants MUST be over 25 years of age (for insurance purposes)
  • Proven experience in weed identification and eradication within grounds maintenance/amenity horticulture
  • PA1 and PA6 tickets (City & Guilds NPTC / equivalent) are essential (safe handling and application of herbicides using hand-held equipment)
  • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving for work (role requires a driver)
  • Good knowledge of safe herbicide use, calibration, environmental controls and best practice
  • Physically fit for outdoor work in all weathers
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering a high-quality finish
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Basic plant and shrub identification knowledge
  • First Aid at Work certification
