The role & about the client: Our client is an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of refurbishment projects across London and the South East. They deliver schemes across commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors, typically ranging from £500k – £10m in value. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong refurbishment background to join their commercial team based near Gravesend. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a stable workload and long-term career progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial aspects of refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Preparing cost plans, budgets and tender documentation
- Procurement of subcontractors and supplier packages
- Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor variations and valuations
- Cost reporting and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
- Identifying and managing commercial risks
- Producing and agreeing final accounts
- Working closely with project managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a main contractor
- Strong refurbishment or fit-out project experience (essential)
- Experience managing projects from inception to completion
- Good knowledge of JCT contracts
- Strong negotiation and commercial management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
