Test & Commissioning Engineer
Location: East Yorkshire (Howden/Goole Area) Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract Industry: Manufacturing / Process Engineering
The Opportunity
A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Test & Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up of a newly constructed production facility in East Yorkshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major capital project involving advanced process equipment and automation systems.
The successful candidate will join a skilled engineering team responsible for the testing, commissioning, and early operational support of complex electro-mechanical equipment within a modern manufacturing environment.
The role would suit an engineer with strong fault-finding skills, commissioning experience, and a hands‑on approach to solving technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up, configuring, testing and commissioning electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
- Carrying out electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic testing activities.
- Completing insulation resistance (IR) testing, loop testing and earth bonding verification.
- Using a variety of test equipment including multi-meters and other diagnostic tools.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
- Supporting installation, commissioning and maintenance activities as required.
- Ensuring all test procedures, documentation and commissioning records are completed accurately and to a high standard.
- Working collaboratively with engineering and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a testing, commissioning or electro-mechanical engineering environment.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using a range of electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
- Good understanding of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Maintenance or a related Engineering discipline.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- HNC/HND in Engineering.
- Site Safety Passport or equivalent.
- Previous commissioning experience within manufacturing, automation, process, chemical or industrial environments.
