Our client, a leading organisation in power and energy solutions, is seeking a talented Senior Substation Secondary (P&C) Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile projects, supporting clients like Grid and SSEN across the UK and internationally.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead technical delivery of protection and control (P&C) design packages for substation projects, from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Detailed Design.
  • Provide technical guidance on protection schemes, relay settings, coordination, and substation automation.
  • Ensure quality assurance and governance of all design outputs, including SLDs, wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, and control room layouts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors, building strong relationships and understanding client needs.
  • Manage tender packages, respond to technical queries, and produce high-quality technical offers.
  • Attend and chair design and hazard review meetings, site visits, and support project delivery across transmission and distribution networks.
  • Support capability development and training within your team, fostering a collaborative environment.

What you'll bring:

  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering, power systems, and energy markets.
  • Proven experience in substation secondary design, protection schemes, and automation.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate with diverse teams, and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Experience in managing tender responses and technical offers.
