Linear Recruitment is working with a well-established construction business in the North East that is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong construction background who enjoys managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring quality, buildability and commercial success across projects.
The Role
As Design Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting both pre-construction and live project delivery teams, coordinating design solutions and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and submission of tenders.
- Manage the design process on tendered and secured projects.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to improve buildability, cost efficiency and programme delivery.
- Produce and manage realistic design delivery programmes.
- Attend design and review meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support change management and negotiate design amendments where required.
- Ensure compliance with SHE, risk management and company procedures.
- Support both pre-construction and project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Design Manager role within construction.
- Experience working for a main contractor on commercial new build projects.
- Strong understanding of pre-construction and project delivery processes.
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree, HNC/HND or relevant technical qualification.
- CSCS card desirable.
