Our client, a long-established contractor specialising in mechanical, electrical, and interior fit‑out solutions, is seeking an experienced Interiors/Fit‑Out Estimator to join their growing team based near Heathrow Airport. This is a key commercial role supporting the delivery of fast‑paced, high‑spec projects across the aviation and commercial sectors, with typical contract values ranging from £20k up to £700k.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a detail‑driven Estimator who thrives in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for preparing competitive tenders, cost plans, and quotations for interior refurbishment and fit‑out works. Working closely with the pre‑construction and delivery teams, you will assess client requirements, analyse drawings and specifications, and secure best‑value pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Accuracy, commercial awareness, and strong communication skills are essential, as many projects are undertaken within live and secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and cost tenders for interior refurbishment and fit‑out projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and client documentation to build accurate cost plans
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Produce bill of quantities, take‑offs, and materials schedules
- Coordinate with internal project teams to ensure seamless handover into delivery
- Assist with value engineering options and alternative solutions where appropriate
- Keep accurate records, pricing files, and tender enquiries
- Support commercial reporting and handover meetings post‑award
Ideal Background
- Proven experience in estimating for interior fit‑out projects (Cat A & B desirable)
- Strong understanding of construction techniques and materials, ideally from a trades or site‑based background
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel essential) — no specialist estimating software required
- Commercially aware, with strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Excellent organisation and communication, with a proactive approach
Additional Information
- Working hours: 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday (30‑minute lunch break)
- Office‑based role (Windsor & Maidenhead Borough location)
- Own vehicle required; must live within approx. 90 minutes’ travel of the office
- This role does not offer hybrid or remote working
