The South’s leading independent Fire & Security Systems company is seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Fire & Security Engineer to join our highly capable and dedicated team. Job details

  • Installing, servicing, and commissioning a wide variety of fire systems (both conventional and addressable), intruder alarms, CCTV systems (IP & analogue), and access control systems.
  • Interpreting system designs and liaising with other building service providers to ensure seamless project delivery, understanding relevant electrical safety issues and commissioning of systems, in accordance with BS5839 /PD6662:2017 or the applicable standard(s).
  • Carrying out small works with respect to system additions and alterations in accordance with BS5839 /PD6662:2017 /BS5266 or the relevant standard(s) as applicable.
  • Diagnosing and resolving faults on fire detection, emergency lighting, EVC, intruder, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Ensuring prompt, professional resolution to system breakdowns.
  • Servicing of conventional and analogue addressable Fire Systems, EVC, Intruder, CCTV, Access control and Emergency Lighting to the required standard(s).
  • Working on industrial, commercial, public and retail contracts.
  • Ensure that the appropriate set of spares, consumables required to complete assigned calls are available on the company vehicle provided, before setting off.
  • Maximising first time fix rates and meeting project deadlines efficiently.
  • Participating in the out of hours callout rota on a shared basis.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through clear communication and professional service.
  • Promoting and supporting the company’s core products, systems, and innovative solutions.
  • Providing expert advice, problem solving, and forward thinking solutions for customers.
  • Working in accordance with the relevant British & European Standards.

What we are looking for

  • Industry experience in fire and security systems installation, servicing, and commissioning.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Fire & Life Safety systems, relevant British and European Standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and customer relation skills, with the ability to build trust and deliver outstanding service.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours and the ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Eagerness to learn new systems/technology.
  • A self‑motivated drive and hunger.
  • Attention to detail and strong practical thinking for effective problem solving.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience within the Fire and Security industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of current British and European standards.
  • Experience with a variety of Intruder, CCTV, Access Control, and Fire Alarm systems, both conventional and addressable.
  • Familiarity with leading system manufacturers, including: Fire: Advanced, Kentec (Apollo & Hochiki), Ajax Intruder: Texecom, Ajax CCTV: Dahua, Ajax Access Control: Paxton.

Terms of Employment

  • Full time permanent contract.
  • Working Hours 07.30 - 16.30 hrs (Lunch Break half hour).
  • The job holder may be asked to work overtime as required.
  • 4 day working week (Mon to Thurs) with the exception of the addition of Friday mornings in school holidays.
  • On call, on a rota 365/24/7.
  • Salary: Dependent on experience.
  • 150.5 hrs + bank holidays.
