Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join the Service Department. You will maintain and repair both customer-owned diesel generators and our rental fleet, while providing excellent service to clients. This role requires strong technical skills, a customer-focused approach, and collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned Maintenance & Service: Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on diesel generators.
  • Service & Repairs: Diagnose faults and repair generators promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Site Surveys: Conduct surveys to assess service needs and maintenance requirements.
  • On-Call Duty: Participate in on-call rota to support clients outside standard hours.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001). Maintain clean, organized workspaces and vehicles.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (City & Guilds, BTEC) or completed apprenticeship.
  • Proven experience servicing and repairing generators (FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar).
  • Strong fault-finding and communication skills.
  • Previous field service experience advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • ECS/CSCS or CCNSG card (training available if required).

Overtime Rates

Monday to Friday: Standard time 8am–5pm, Time & Half 5pm–Midnight, Double Time 12am–4am

Saturdays: Time & Half 4am–Midnight, Double Time 12am–4am

Sundays & Bank Holidays: All hours paid at Double Time

Additional Information

  • DBS checks and satisfactory references required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
