Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail‑focused Engineering & Design professional to join our client based in Eye, Suffolk supporting the delivery of high‑quality, manufacturable design solutions across customer‑specific projects. This role plays a key part in producing accurate drawings, compiling and maintaining Bills of Materials, and ensuring designs are efficiently released to production in line with structural, cost, safety, and contractual requirements. Working collaboratively with the wider Engineering & Design team, customers, and manufacturing colleagues, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support the ongoing development of 3D design systems, and apply Design for Manufacture principles to add value throughout the design process. Duties
- Contribute to the production and checking of approval, fabrication, and construction drawings to standard within a given programmed time.
- Accurately compile and check Bills of Materials/Parts lists for customer specific orders and ensure effective release to production, reflecting current supply situation.
- Coordinate with team members, customer representatives, and manufacturing staff to ensure relevant information is available to manufacture products effectively and in compliance with structural, cost, and contractual obligations.
- Assist with continued implementation of Autodesk Inventor 3D and Vault Professional within the Engineering & Design Team.
- Utilise the principles of Design for Manufacture and value‑added engineering throughout design undertakings where applicable.
- Apply best practice to ensure all designs eliminate hazards and reduce risks, as far as reasonably practicable.
- Assist change and develop more efficient processes within the Engineering & Design team.
- Participate actively in Continuous Improvement, Lean initiatives and other activities to improve overall efficiency, including via ISO 9001 accreditation.
- Ensure duties are carried out in accordance with all Company policies, procedures and processes.
- Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be requested paying due regard to your role.
Skills and Attributes
- Proficient with Autodesk Inventor 3D, SolidWorks, or similar 3D software and AutoCAD packages.
- Ability to work using own initiative to a high standard with excellent attention to detail whilst meeting deadlines.
- Experience or knowledge of the use of iLogic, python, or similar coding would be beneficial.
- Computer proficient skills including MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft TEAMS.
- Strong manufacturing/engineering background with good engineering and technical knowledge.
- Experience of producing Bills of Materials.
- ERP system knowledge would be beneficial.
- Desirable – Degree/HND in an engineering/manufacturing qualification or equivalent work experience in a related role.
