We are currently working with a well‑established, multi‑sector main contractor in the North West who is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to strengthen their pre‑construction team. This is a reputable business with a strong pipeline of work and a track record of delivering high‑quality projects across the region. The Estimator will play a key role in securing new work and supporting the successful delivery of projects. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders, working closely with internal teams, designers, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the pre‑construction process. This position offers a good level of autonomy and exposure to a variety of projects, with values typically ranging from £500k up to £10m. It’s a strong opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys being involved early in the process and contributing to commercially sound project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates from drawings, specifications and site information
- Managing tender submissions, including labour, material and subcontractor pricing
- Using estimating software (experience with Conquest would be advantageous)
- Carrying out site visits and attending meetings as required
- Obtaining, reviewing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Liaising closely with design teams during pre‑construction stages
- Supporting budget development throughout design and planning phases
- Identifying risks and value‑engineering opportunities while maintaining quality
- Maintaining well‑organised estimating records and tender documentation
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets
- Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident pricing projects typically ranging from ÂŁ500k to ÂŁ10m
- Good understanding of subcontractor and supplier markets
- Able to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple tenders and deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
