GBR Recruitment Limited are proud to be working exclusively on a new & highly interesting construction opportunity, recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join our client's highly progressive Newark based Building Services & General Construction business (grounds, civils, maintenance repairs, refurbishments, extensions, new build structures, M&E) across South Yorkshire & Lincolnshire.

Our built environment client is seeking an Estimator who has worked on various industry sector builds including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, sports & leisure, retail etc. as they work across all different build types.

As the Estimator, you will play a key role in successfully delivering both small & major construction projects valued anywhere from £50K - £15M, successfully managing multiple projects, ensuring as part of the wider commercial & building project delivery team that the construction works / building services / new builds are completed OTIF.

This is your chance to work across a variety of construction projects, across a multitude of end using industry sectors, giving you additional depth to your Estimating / Costing skills, plus giving you a diverse working week where not every day is the same, keeping things fresh & interesting.

As an estimating professional you will be experienced in overseeing multiple projects of different specification, size & value, working to set deadlines, across both the private & public sector. Your skills will be in reading construction drawings, completing quantity take-offs by analyzing construction plans & creating a detailed list of all building materials, labour & equipment needed to complete the project/s.

You will also appraise tender documents, produce bills of quantities (BOQ's), look into risk & value management, prepare budgets, estimates & costing plans, and produce accurate & competitive tender bids to continue business growth.

Estimator duties to include:

  • Handling multiple projects across building services, building maintenance, new builds & refurbs.
  • Read & interpret construction drawings to take off quantities.
  • Appraise tender documents.
  • Preparing sub-contract & material enquiries.
  • Producing bills of quantities (BOQ’s).
  • Undertaking both risk & value management.
  • Accurately preparing realistic budgets, estimates & cost plans.
  • Compile accurate & competitive tenders for potential contracts.

Attributes:

  • Strong Estimating experience across a variety of building environments & a variety of building project types, of varying value.
  • Commercial & Industrial construction experience, across various build specifications & various requirements/use, such as office buildings (including full Cat A & Cat B fit outs), warehouses, schools, sports & leisure facilities and more.
  • NEC / JCT contracts QS experience is ideal, plus other contract types.
  • Experience of working with end using clients as the principal contractor & of subcontracting to other main contractors.
  • Estimating software experience, using software such as CostX, Buildertrend, ProEst, Buildxact, PlanSwift, ConstructionOnline or Sage Estimating or similar to these.

This diverse Estimating role is commutable from Newark, Mansfield, Southwell, Radcliffe on Trent, Grantham, Lincoln, Sleaford, Spalding, Boston, Gainsborough, Bardney, Horncastle, Louth, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Retford, Worksop and areas close to these locations with strong connections to the A1 / A46.

This position is 5 working days (Monday to Friday) in the office or out on the clients' construction sites, some hybrid working may be available odd days too.
