Questech Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join a well‑established and growing business based in Gainsborough.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day activities of the engineering function, ensuring equipment reliability, driving continuous improvement, and leading a skilled maintenance team within a fast‑paced environment.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering team to maximise equipment availability, minimise downtime, and support operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance.
  • Plan, prioritise and coordinate maintenance activities across the site.
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules are completed effectively.
  • Respond to breakdowns, providing technical support and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Manage engineering resources and contractors where required.
  • Monitor engineering KPIs and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Support capital investment and equipment improvement projects.
  • Work closely with production and operations teams to maximise plant performance.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering or maintenance team.
  • Strong background within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree).
  • Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation within manufacturing.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Desirable

  • Multi‑skilled engineering background.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, TPM or Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Experience leading engineering improvement or reliability projects.
