About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Transport Planner to join a busy transport allocation team. You will play a vital role in ensuring drivers are efficiently scheduled, loads are optimised, and deliveries meet customer expectations.
This is a hands‑on role where organisation, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate daily work to drivers and coordinate their schedules to maximise efficiency.
- Monitor driver performance, identifying areas for improvement and highlighting concerns to management.
- Maintain daily communication with drivers to confirm workloads and expected delivery times.
- Minimise downtime and empty miles, ensuring drivers' hours are used effectively and compliant with working time regulations.
- Liaise with customers and collection points to resolve any delivery or driver issues.
- Track deliveries in real time, updating systems to reflect workload progress.
- Plan driver attendance for vehicle maintenance in line with compliance requirements.
- Support the wider team with load planning and any additional tasks as needed.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A-C, including English and Maths.
- Experience in traffic planning, driver liaison, or transport allocation roles.
- Strong customer service skills and experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of UK geography and understanding of driver working time legislation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
