Salter Grange is exclusively recruiting for an Electrical Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to take the lead on electrical safety for a world-class portfolio of Hyperscale Data Centres. Our client is the European leader in construction solutions, managing complex engineering projects for the world’s most innovative corporations. They deliver the infrastructure that powers global technology, life sciences, and advanced electronics. This is a senior-level position where you will be at the heart of a supportive, high-performance team, given the power to achieve incredible things in a "safety-first" environment.
As the Electrical Senior Authorised Person, you are the primary authority for electrical safety on-site. You will be accountable for implementing and enforcing rigorous electrical safety rules across a sophisticated portfolio, ensuring that safe systems of work are never compromised.
Senior Authorised Person Responsibilities:- Act as the ultimate authority for all live or potentially live HV/MV and LV systems under your control.
- Plan and execute safe electrical energisations and isolations, including drafting and approving complex switching plans and system boundaries.
- Audit and enforce the Electrical Safety Permit System, managing access control and the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) system.
- Identify electrical hazards (including Arc Flash risks), specify necessary PPE, and review/approve all safety-related Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Ensure all work meets jurisdictional and client requirements through periodic inspections and rigorous auditing.
- Monitor vendors and subcontractors during commissioning (Level 2B to Level 5) to ensure successful Integrated System Testing (IST).
- Conduct training and toolbox talks to ensure all team members are competent and compliant with the project's Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSOW).
- Qualified Electrician (Craft Certificate/Level 6 equivalent) OR a higher degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Recent certification (within 2 years) in HV/MV and LV Authorised Person training and Verification/Testing.
- 5–10 years of experience managing large installation projects and subcontractors.
- Proven track record in HV/MV Infrastructure (Data Centres, Power Gen, or DNO/IDNO).
- Experience managing safety precautions across control boundaries and supervising advanced cable works (phasing, testing, identifying).
- In-depth knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, SLDs, wiring diagrams, and equipment (Main panels, ACB’s, VSD’s, Busbar).
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- You must be able to maintain high performance under pressure and drive action within strict deadlines.
