Day-to-Day

Your typical day as an Electrical Engineer (Intermediate-Level) will involve:

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated designs.
  • Producing detailed electrical designs and calculations for building services systems.
  • Attending project meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss progress and technical solutions.
  • Conducting site visits to review installations and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Supporting junior team members with technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Researching and implementing sustainable engineering practices in your designs.
  • Managing project deadlines and ensuring deliverables are met to a high standard.

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer (Intermediate-Level), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions across all project stages, from RIBA Stage 0 to Stage 7. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing electrical building services systems for a variety of sectors.
  • Producing detailed technical designs and documentation to a high standard.
  • Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to deliver coordinated designs.
  • Attending client and design team meetings to provide technical input and updates.
  • Conducting site visits to monitor installation progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Supporting and mentoring graduate engineers in their technical development.
  • Developing practical, sustainable, and energy-efficient engineering solutions.
  • Managing your workload effectively across multiple projects.
  • Working under the guidance of Senior and Principal Engineers while developing greater autonomy.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical building services design within a UK-based MEP consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and building services systems.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Revit, ProDesign, and Bluebeam (desirable).
  • A keen interest in sustainable engineering and low-energy building design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
  • Working towards chartership or ready to begin the process.
