We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a highly respected engineering company specialising in advanced engineered systems and bespoke technical solutions supplied to customers worldwide.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer with strong hydraulics and pneumatics experience who enjoys technically challenging projects and full lifecycle engineering involvement.
The Role
- Mechanical design of assemblies and system components
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system design
- Producing GA drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs
- Supporting design reviews and continuous improvement activities
- Working closely with manufacturing, testing, suppliers, and project teams
- Supporting compliance with CE/UKCA and engineering standards
- Managing technical documentation and engineering deliverables
- Opportunity to take ownership of projects as a Lead Engineer, coordinating timelines, technical stakeholders, and project delivery activities
Requirements
- HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Mechanical design experience within special purpose machinery, industrial equipment, or precision engineering environments
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks)
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings to BS 8888 standards
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Good knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Practical engineering or hands-on mechanical experience
- Experience with fabrication, pipework, or heavy machinery
- Willingness to travel internationally when required
