An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a portfolio of highways improvements and upgrade works in partnership with Doncaster City Council. Based in Doncaster, this role offers the chance to take commercial ownership of multiple schemes across a long-term framework, contributing to the enhancement of critical transport infrastructure upgrades across the region.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of highways projects, ensuring accurate cost control, contract compliance, and successful project delivery. You'll work closely with operational teams and key stakeholders while supporting junior commercial staff with the development of their careers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commercial management of multiple highways improvement projects
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Undertake contract administration duties (NEC)
- Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and accounts
- Assess, value, and negotiate variations and compensation events
- Oversee applications for payment and final accounts
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, internal teams and the wider supply chain
- Support and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors
- Drive value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across projects
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a 'can do' attitude and an eagerness to progress your career
- Background in highways, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Ability to manage multiple schemes within a framework environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
