Leading provider of automated systems are now looking to strengthen and reinforce the team with an experienced Electrical Design Engineer. The position is based in the East Midlands, commutable from Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Chesterfield and surrounding areas.

Electrical Design Engineer £40,000 - £60,000 + Pension, Flexi-Time, Overtime, Training

The Role

  • Take charge of electrical design activities from concept through to site handover
  • Produce electrical control panel and system designs in line with relevant ISO, EN, and BS standards
  • Create electrical schematics, layouts and associated drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design calculations, safety specifications, O&M manuals and installation documentation
  • Specify and procure electrical equipment including control panels, drives and field devices
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers on technical matters throughout project delivery
  • Manage BOMs to support manufacturing and procurement activities
  • Support design reviews, project meetings and customer-facing technical discussions
  • Provide technical support across engineering and operational teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation working on complex and innovative automation projects

What we are looking for

  • HNC/D Electrical Engineering minimum
  • Knowledge of 415V motor drive systems, inverter drives and soft starters
  • Experienced with 24V DC control systems and industrial sensor technologies
  • Familiarity with fieldbus I/O systems and automation interfaces
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical and standard Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of relevant electrical and automation industry standards
  • Knowledge of modern machine safety systems and standards
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across projects and departments
  • Commissioning experience within automation environments would be advantageous
