Location: Crewe, Cheshire

Pay Rate: £18.82 per hour PAYE / £24.40 per hour Umbrella

Hours: Mon - Thurs 8am - 4.30pm (with flexibility to work shifts), Friday Early finish 12.15pm

Duration: Ongoing / long term contract. Start Date: ASAP

We are recruiting for Mechanical Fitters to join a leading Rolling Stock company based at their depot in Crewe. This is an ongoing contract opportunity working on the mechanical overhaul of rail bogies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Bogie overhaul, damage repair and engineering
  • Wheelset overhaul, repair and analysis
  • Bogie chassis repair and cleaning
  • Bogie and gearbox repair
  • Wheel exchanges
  • Bearing, axle and wheel mounting
  • Overhaul and repair of components and sub-assemblies
  • Re-engineering and production of spare parts

The role involves carrying out mechanical repair and replacement work on rolling stock to ensure trains are safe, reliable and defect-free.

Backgrounds considered: Rolling Stock, Automotive, Marine, Plant, Aviation, Military, HGV Technicians or similar heavy engineering environments.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 (minimum) in a mechanical discipline
  • Ideally time-served/apprentice trained
  • Strong all-round mechanical knowledge
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Good communication skills

Candidates with 18 months+ experience in a vehicle manufacturing or similar engineering environment will also be considered, as training can be provided.

All applicants must be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test prior to starting.
