Location: Midlands (UK) based (ideal within 100 miles of Birmingham).
Employment: Permanent.
Salary & Benefits (Permanent): Up to £55,000 basic + Travel pay (OTE £70,000+). 26 days holiday + bank holidays. Training to become LV/HV qualified. Company van + fuel card. Pension. Private Health Insurance. Death in Service. £15/month phone allowance or company phone.
Role Overview: This position is for an experienced Electrician working across utility‑scale solar farms, BESS sites, ICP works and ground‑mount O&M projects. You’ll take a leading role on site, overseeing labourers and mates, ensuring safe, compliant and high‑quality electrical installation and maintenance across major renewable energy projects. This role suits someone who enjoys large‑scale infrastructure, can take ownership on site, and wants long‑term progression within a growing, forward‑thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Construction
- Install electrical systems including cabling, containment, trenching, terminations and LV equipment.
- Work on power stations, substations, solar arrays, BESS sites and ICP connection activities.
- Carry out LV testing and support HV teams where required.
- Technical & Compliance
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings and engineering plans.
- Ensure all work meets BS7671, safety standards and project specifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of works, materials and safety compliance.
- Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead a small team of Electrician Mates and Labourers on site.
- Provide training, guidance and feedback to support their development.
- Act as site lead when required, liaising with Site Management and Project Management.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with project teams to ensure smooth delivery.
- Represent the organisation professionally with clients and contractors.
Person Specification
- Essential
- Level 2/3 City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in utility‑scale solar, BESS, or LV/HV construction.
- Strong understanding of central/string inverters.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of earthing systems and current H&S legislation.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication, safety awareness, problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Desirable
- 17th/18th Edition (BS7671).
- HV experience (training can be provided).
- AP15 / OP40 certification.
- SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safely.
