Mechanical Commissioning Engineer – London – Data Centre
We are currently partnering with a bespoke Fire, Security and IT Solutions design, installation and support provider operation on Major Construction and Mission Critical projects across Europe. Due to continued success, they are seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join them on a Data Centre Project in London.
Responsibilities
- Commissioning Planning & Execution: Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans and procedures for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
- System Testing & Validation: Carry out and witness pre-functional checks, start-up activities, and performance testing of systems including chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation, and fuel oil systems, ensuring readiness for integrated systems testing.
- Technical Coordination: Coordinate commissioning activities with design, construction, electrical, and controls teams, maintaining clear communication to ensure smooth sequencing and alignment across disciplines.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, test records, and progress reports; ensure all commissioning deliverables are accurate, traceable, and aligned with QA/QC requirements.
- Issue Resolution & Quality Control: Identify, track, and close out commissioning issues or deficiencies through structured reporting and collaboration with site teams and the client’s commissioning authority.
- Safety & Compliance Leadership: Ensure all commissioning works are executed in line with health and safety procedures, permits, and risk assessments; promote a strong safety culture within the commissioning team.
Requirements
- Must have relevant degree level qualification or equivalent trades background.
- Must have 5+ years’ experience in a similar position on large scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres).
- Must be based within commutable distance of London.
