About the Role

Many senior roles in larger consultancies come with impressive titles but limited influence. Strategic decisions are often made elsewhere, leaving little opportunity to shape the direction of the business. This opportunity is different. We are seeking an experienced and ambitious fire engineering professional who wants to play a meaningful role in the growth, direction, and success of our team. This position offers genuine influence, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to help shape both technical excellence and business strategy.

We recognise that exceptional candidates come from diverse backgrounds and bring different strengths. Rather than seeking a single predefined profile, we are interested in meeting outstanding professionals who align with one or more of the following areas:

  • Technical Leader: A highly capable Chartered Fire Engineer who delivers exceptional technical solutions, maintains the highest quality standards, supports colleagues, and builds trusted client relationships. You take pride in technical excellence and want to be a cornerstone of a high‑performing team.
  • Technical & Commercial Leader: A fire engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and business development capability. You are comfortable identifying opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and contributing to the growth of the business while maintaining technical credibility.
  • Team & People Leader: A structured and people‑focused leader who enjoys developing others, building high‑performing teams, and creating a positive culture. Supported by a strong engineering background, you bring leadership skills that help individuals and teams achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery, technical review, and quality assurance of complex and high‑profile fire engineering projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Develop and oversee fire strategies and innovative engineering solutions that meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers at all stages of their careers.
  • Contribute to business development activities, helping to secure and grow new opportunities.
  • Support recruitment, workforce planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional and technical development.
  • Contribute to company strategy, operational improvements, and business planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, regulators, and project teams.
  • Stay informed of developments in UK fire legislation, building safety regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant experience within a fire engineering consultancy environment, typically around 10 years or more, although the quality and breadth of experience are more important than the exact number of years.
  • Proven track record of delivering fire strategies and complex fire engineering solutions across a range of projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK fire engineering legislation, regulations, and the evolving building safety landscape.
  • Experience leading or supporting technical teams and providing technical oversight.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining long‑term client relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and project management experience.
  • Experience contributing to business development, proposal writing, and tender submissions.
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and supporting organisational growth.

What We Offer

  • A genuinely influential leadership role with the opportunity to shape the future direction of the business.
  • A collaborative environment where expertise, ideas, and initiative are valued.
  • Diverse and challenging projects across multiple sectors.
  • Career development opportunities aligned with your ambitions and strengths.
  • The chance to work alongside a highly capable team committed to technical excellence and client success.

If you are looking for a role where your expertise, leadership, and ideas can make a real impact, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
