First People Solutions is working with a well-established and highly respected consulting engineer that is seeking a Project Manager to join their team in Edinburgh. Our client is a large, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions on complex projects across the UK. Their portfolio spans local and infrastructure, covering disciplines including geo-environmental, transportation, structures, renewables, and water services.
Due to growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead procurement and development activities on major highways and trunk road schemes.
Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in managing the team through the procurement stages and development of major highways and trunk road projects.
- Manage the design team to prepare aspects of NEC-based contracts and ensure technical and contractual compliance across a range of highway and infrastructure schemes.
- A strong understanding of highway design and NEC contracts is essential.
- Prepare and draft NEC contracts, including NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), Professional Services Contract (PSC), and Term Service Contract (TSC).
- Develop and manage Contract Data Parts 1 and 2.
- Draft and manage Z Clauses in line with highways authority requirements.
- Support tender evaluation processes and contract award activities.
- Ensure all contracts and deliverables align with highways authority standards, including DMRB where applicable.
- Coordinate closely with design, construction, and asset management teams.

- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- NEC accreditation and/or strong experience working with NEC contracts.
- Proven experience in the design and procurement of highways or major infrastructure projects/schemes.
