We are currently working in partnership with a manufacturing business based in Cardiff looking to employ a permanent Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a solid understanding of both Electrical and Mechanical engineering. The role supports reactive maintenance, breakdowns and preventive plant maintenance.

Shift Pattern Panama: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off and so on. If a shift falls on a bank holiday, you will be given the holiday back to use another day.

Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team by carrying out systematic tasks and continuous improvements to plant and machinery to improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and repair, working to minimise downtime (mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair based on your bias).
  • Troubleshoot issues, fault find and use diagnostic techniques.
  • Perform inspection and servicing of manufacturing equipment as required.
  • Use initiative to identify areas that will improve production performance, line utilisation and reduce scrap levels.
  • Provide maintenance support for projects.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the engineering environment during slack time.
  • Work in line with Health and Safety requirements at all times.
  • Carry out weekly testing on fire alarm systems.
  • Support and maintain operations across all sites relating to breakdowns and preventive plant maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full qualification in engineering: HNC/HND/ONC or City & Guilds Level 3 (equivalent to NVQ Level 3).
  • Solid understanding of electrical and at least basic mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience as a Multi‑skilled Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand circuit drawings and engineering schematics.
  • Experience in diagnostics, fault finding and repair to a high standard.
  • Experience maintaining grinders, lathes, CNC machines and milling machines is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication.
  • Attention to detail.
