We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major power and utilities infrastructure projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware QS to take ownership of key project packages within a growing energy and infrastructure portfolio, working in a supportive and fast-paced consultancy environment.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the full commercial lifecycle of infrastructure projects, supporting the successful delivery of overhead line (OHL), substation, and associated utilities works. Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and project teams, you will play a key role in cost control, contract administration, and commercial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and in line with contractual requirements. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement (2-3 days on site in Bury St Edmunds), with the remainder working flexibly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the commercial management of power and utilities projects
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining cost plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Monitor project costs and assist with financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Administer contracts (including NEC and/or JCT) under guidance of senior team members
  • Support the management of compensation events, variations, and change control
  • Assist with subcontractor account management including payments and valuations
  • Support procurement activities including tender analysis and contract documentation
  • Help identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Produce accurate and timely commercial reports for internal and client stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams
About You
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to substation, overhead line, or similar civil engineering works (desirable)
  • Understanding of NEC or JCT contracts
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and commercial systems
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience (desirable)
